Coventry Cathedral

Voted 'Best Historic Attraction or Venue' in the annual Group Leisure & Travel Awards, Coventry Cathedral is a fabulous example of post war ecclesiastical architecture. Built next to the ruins of the bomb destroyed old Cathedral, it houses a remarkable collection of work from some of the foremost artists and designers of the time.

We have designed and print-managed many publications for the Trustees at Coventry Cathedral including this 52 page book which showcases the stunning stained glass windows contained in the modernist structure. The design and layout of this book presented us with many challenges as the representation of the windows had to ensure that they were shown in their entirety. The standard use of cropping images as a device to balance the layout could not be used here. In addition we had to ensure that the images were placed in a position relevant to their corresponding texts. Hence the layouts were very determined by the proportions of the complete windows as they appeared on page. 

In addition to designing this publication we also colour balanced all the supplied photographic images and were commissioned to take the main interior photo of the Cathedral.
